I have come to admire people less...

I have come to admire people less.
One by one,
My childhood gods have fallen,
Young and old.
Along comes real people,
Concrete and present,
They never turn into icons,
Old or new.
Here lies my embrace,
In the bosom of the concrete and present,
Whose arms do not ask for piety.
