Appreciation

Appreciation

It begins with a simple thank you "" it is so hard? Just two simple words that are thought when we are young. When your mom or your grandma pull you aside after your aunt Thelma gave you a gift or a piece of cake or a cookie "" What do you say?, your mom would ask....Thank you! And you can see their faces lighten up, full of pride and joy that they have raised such a polite child. You don't understand the meaning of the word because you are too young, you will associate it with the gift, with a happy situation when you received something. That should be the clear meaning of the two words "" it is a gift for a gift "" thanking for something means that you give something back, it is not ment to be just a mechanical association of letters, that is part of the routine in our days.
A lot of people take everything for granted, the family who raised them, the mother who is packing your lunch to go to school and who dreams of you becoming a great person valuable for this society. She doesn't sometimes receive nothing in return, not a smile, not a kiss, not even a thank you. But she will still doing the same things for you every day. She will hope that you build yourself and do great thing in life. You don't appreciate that now because you feel you earn it just by breathing. World is balanced, my mother used to say, you take something but you give back, otherwise the balance will not exist. Is like sitting on a scale, you put more weight on one side, it will tip over, you have to balance. World is simple, based on gravity, so is people. How much can a person go without hearing a thank you?....A long way, there are people who don't even know that they deserve such a feeling. When you are raised in dark, you don't know how to appreciate the light. It is simple, comes from inside, but you need to show it.
A simple gesture is enough. A simple look full of love towards your spouse, a kiss on the cheek for your grandma, a band-aid for your mom who burned herself cooking your favourite food, washing the car for your dad who spend many night working so you can go to college. Is not that simple? For many people is the end of the world, what world i ask you? The world of people without conscience, feelings, people who are cowards? And you say that the guy who helps his wife is the stupid one, that makes you what?.....a high pedigree specimen of ...what?....you cannot say human because the definition of human=Like most higher primates, humans are social by nature. However, humans are uniquely adept at utilizing systems of communication for self-expression, the exchange of ideas, and organization. Humans create complex social structures composed of many cooperating and competing groups, from families to nations. Social interactions between humans have established an extremely wide variety of values, social norms, and rituals, which together form the basis of human society. Humans have a marked appreciation for beauty and aesthetics which, combined with the human desire for self-expression, has led to cultural innovations such as art, literature and music.
Why the we lost on the way all the simple thing like well raised courtesy and politeness. The etiquette that everybody makes fun about.
But simple things made world better. It is time to sit and reflect a little about your life, what do you feel when you held your spouse into your arms, when you come out from the dark that you lived so many years? You are lightening up like aunt Thelma or you just don't get it? Being grateful for something so small doesn't make you happy, being happy is not the final destination on everybody's lives? It takes so little to live such a big feeling.

I like the theme here; at the simplest things in life should be amongst the most treasured.
