When the greenhouse opens its doors,
I say, "It smells like a vegan's breath."
I had been vegan-ish myself.
I have refused to wear leather, naturally,
But conceded that wool over my back
Meant good hygiene for the sheep.
I have not put wool over other people's eyes.
And I have eaten eggs,
"They're the period blood of chicken. No harm done",
I said.
But you, dear vegans, you do not compromise.
Here, in the greenhouse, I sense my cowardice.
