Kasai stood there alone in that room for almost thirty minuets, still in a state of shock, before even moving. The soft chirping of a bird from outside finally brought her back into reality. With a few slow blinks she made her way over to the only window in the room and pulled back the heavy curtains. Light flooded into the darkened room forcing Kasai's eyes almost completely closed. On the seal of the window a small bird sat singing happily as it greeted the first rays of the morning light. Kasai could not help but to smile at the simple joy the little bird forced into her. 'I wonder how Rosuto and Mitsukai are doing?' she thought to herself and turned from the window.
Perhaps it was the little bird or the morning light, but she suddenly felt a glimmer of hope in her situation. She made her way out of the room and into the hallway. It was time that she found her friends and made sure that they were alright.
"Holly shit," she said a bit loudly. As far as she could see there were doors on both sides of the hall, and the hall itself seemed to go on forever. "How am I going to find where those two are?" she asked herself with a sigh.
As she stood there looking to her right then to her left over and over again, thinking about which way to start looking, the air before her shimmered slightly. Before she could even begin to think about what the shimmer was Mitsukai stood before her with Rosuto standing behind him with his hand on Mitsukai's shoulder.
As soon as her eyes fell on them she pounced, wrapping an arm around each of their necks in a hug. "You both are all right!" she said still holding onto them.
"Yes," Rosuto said and gave her a little hug in return.
"How did you find me?" she asked finally releasing them.
"Mitsukai was reading your thoughts," Rosuto said with a smile and a motion of his hand towards him.
"Is that darkness around you neck?" Mitsukai finally chimed in, his voice as monotone as ever.
"Darkness?" she asked and ran a finger over the collar given to her by Kokuzoku.
"Yes," he replied and narrowed his eyes on the collar. "Darkness is the souls that have been claimed by Kuragari. She uses them for her magic and manipulates them."
"It was given to me by a woman named Kokuzoku," she said running a finger over the collar. "She said that I was her pet."
"Kokuzoku," he said lowly, his eyes locked on the collar. "She is nothing more than Kuragari's lap dog." He opened his mouth about to speak again then cut off shortly, tilting his head slightly to the side. "That is odd."
"Hmm?" Kasai asked arching a brow.
"That soul trapped around your neck," his voice had become softer as he focused on the collar, "it knows you."
"What?" she said, her voice entwined in confusion.
"His name," he reached out and touched the collar with a single finger, "his name was Dai."
"Dai?!" Kasai began to shake her head refusing what she had just heard. "No, it can't be. I killed him years ago. I burned him to death so he would not fall to Kuragari."
Mitsukai shook his head, his eyes still locked on her collar. "No, Kuragari had gotten to him first. She had already marked him. When you killed him," he paused for a moment and blinked as he finally took his eyes from the collar and set them on Kasai, "you sealed his fate."
